Using RYSE devices with iOS Shortcuts

How to control your SmartShades/SmartCurtains with iOS Shortcuts on your iPhone or iPad

Written by Sappho Hansen Smythe

The SmartBridge is required to enable this feature. Shortcuts send commands to your devices through your SmartBridge, so only shades connected to a SmartBridge can be controlled.

Before getting started with RYSE Shortcuts:

  • Make sure you are logged into your RYSE account in the RYSE app.

  • Make sure your SmartBridge is paired to the RYSE app. If it is not yet paired, please see our SmartBridge articles here.

  • Make sure your SmartShades and/or SmartCurtains are paired to your SmartBridge.

The six RYSE actions

When you add a RYSE action in the Shortcuts app, you can choose from six shortcuts:

Action

What it does

Open All Windows on All SmartBridges

Opens every shade on every SmartBridge connected to your RYSE account.

Open All Windows on Selected SmartBridges

Opens every shade on the SmartBridge(s) you choose. This is useful for users who have multiple SmartBridges.

Open Selected Windows

Opens one or more specific shades (across one or more SmartBridges)

Close All Windows on All SmartBridges

Closes every shade on every SmartBridge connected to your RYSE account.

Close All Windows on Selected SmartBridges

Closes every shade on the SmartBridge(s) you choose

Close Selected Windows

Closes one or more specific shades (across one or more SmartBridges)

The actions through Shortcuts are open or close only. For partial position commands, consider using HomeKit, Alexa, Google Home, or opening the RYSE app.

Creating a shortcut

  1. In the Shortcuts app, tap the + button and scroll to find RYSE in the app list.

  2. Select RYSE, then choose one of the available actions.

  3. Customize it by selecting the SmartBridge(s) or window(s). Different actions show different menus, and only devices on your signed-in account appear.

  4. Rename the shortcut (optional).

  5. Save.

You can then run the shortcut by tapping its tile, adding it to your Home Screen or a widget, or triggering it with Siri. The RYSE app does not need to be open for the shortcut to run.

Additional Notes

RYSE Shortcuts do not use Apple HomeKit. This means that you do not need your SmartBridge to be connected to HomeKit for this feature to work, but you do need the RYSE App installed on your phone.
