Prerequisites
Direct integration only works with Echo Plus and not the other products in the Amazon Echo line
Device is configured and put into SmartHome mode
Echo Plus is set up and configured
Phone with Amazon Alexa App
Joining Gear to Echo Plus
Open Amazon Alexa app and click on the Smart Home icon
Mark your Echo+ 'discoverable' by either:
saying "Alexa, discover devices", OR
In the Devices screen click on the + icon in the top right corner. Select Add Device > Other and Discover Devices
Immediately press Pair on your Gear [Echo Plus will discover Axis Gear as 'My First Device' (or Second, or Third)].
The touch strip should flash green twice to indicate a successful pairing
To verify, go to All Devices in the Devices screen and the Gear should appear as 'My First Device' (or Second, or Third)]
Voice Commands
In the Devices screen click on the + icon in the top right corner
Select Add Group and choose a room name
Select the Gears that will be part of the group
Now you can use the following commands which Alexa can process:
"Turn on [room]" - all blinds go up
"Turn off [room]" - all blinds go down
"Set [room] to ___%" - all blinds go to desired percentage
NOTE: You may also control each device by using the name given to the device
Optional Voice Command Modifications
In the Amazon Alexa app, click on the menu and go into Routines
Click on Settings and navigate to the Assistant tab to select Routines
Add a new routine by clicking on the + icon on the top right and set up the following
When this happens > Voice and enter the phrase as Open [Room] (or Close [Room])
Add Action > Smart Home > Control Group and select [Room] with the Turn On (or Turn Off)option
Click on Add and then Create
To operate, the blinds you can now say "Alexa, Open [Room]" or "Alexa, Close [Room]" to fully open or close shades
