To connect your RYSE SmartShade to SmartThings, you will require the following:
SmartThings Hub (with SmartThings App)
Follow these steps to pair your SmartShade with SmartThings securely, using the QR code printed on the adapter.
Note: If you cannot physically access the SmartShade to scan the code, follow these pairing steps instead.
Install the Z-Wave Adapter: Plug the Z-Wave adapter into the bottom of the SmartShade. Then, plug in the power source (either the BatteryPack, or RYSE Power Adapter).
Install and Calibrate the SmartShade:
If you plan to use your Z-Wave hub as your only control method, follow the steps in our interactive guide here to install your SmartShade on your beaded chain, and set your top/bottom positions by following our video tutorial here.
Alternatively, if you want to be able to use both your Z-Wave hub and the RYSE app to control your SmartShade, download the RYSE app, tap the + button, and follow the in-app guide. This will enable you to install and calibrate your devices, and pair the device with the RYSE app (not mandatory for Z-Wave setup).
Access SmartThings: Open the SmartThings app on your mobile device and log into the account linked with your SmartThings Hub. For optimal performance, stay close to the Hub during setup.
Initiate Inclusion Process:
Tap the '+' icon in the top right corner of the app.
Select "Add a Device."
Select "Scan QR Code".
Scan the QR code:
Unplug the Power Adapter or BatteryPack from the SmartShade.
Scan the code on the bottom of the Z-Wave Adapter. This will cause your hub to go into pairing mode.
Pair Your SmartShade:
Plug the power source back into the SmartShade. You will see the SmartShade blink as it turns on.
Press the PAIR button on the top of the SmartShade. You will see the SmartShade blink blue as it enters pairing mode.
Finish and Enjoy:
Optionally, enter a name for your device.
Tap "Done". This will cause the app to download the required plugins automatically.
Your RYSE SmartShade is now added to your dashboard and ready to use!
