Pairing SmartBridge to iPhone via Wi-Fi

How to pair your SmartBridge to the RYSE app using Wi-Fi, on an Apple phone or tablet.

If your SmartBridge has model number BR-0201 printed on the bottom, you can choose to connect it to your network with either ethernet or Wi-Fi. Please follow the instructions below to pair your SmartBridge using Wi-Fi.

Otherwise, if your SmartBridge has BR-0101 printed on the bottom or if you would like to connect your BR-0201 SmartBridge using ethernet, please follow the instructions in our article here.

Before getting started, make sure your phone is connected to the Wi-Fi network that you would like your SmartBridge to connect to, and download the RYSE app from the app store.

To pair your SmartBridge to the RYSE app:

  1. On the RYSE dashboard, tap "Add a SmartBridge", or tap the + button in the upper right corner and select "Add RYSE SmartBridge".

  2. Plug your SmartBridge into a power outlet using the provided power adapter. The range of the SmartBridge is approximately 30ft, so please be sure to plug it in within range of your SmartShades.

    Wait for the leftmost LED to turn solid blue, then tap "Next".

  3. Select "BR-0201".

  4. If you are getting set up for the first time, your SmartBridge will not yet be on your Wifi network. If you only see the leftmost blue light lit on your SmartBridge, select "No".

    Otherwise, if your SmartBridge is already on your Wi-Fi network, you will see all 3 blue LEDs turn on. If this is the case, select "Yes" and the app will scan your Wi-Fi network to find the SmartBridge and add it to your dashboard right away!

  5. Select "Wi-Fi Connection"

  6. At this time, you can choose to either connect to your network using HomeKit, or using the RYSE app.

    If you choose HomeKit & RYSE app, your SmartBridge will be added to both apps.

    If you choose RYSE app only, your SmartBridge will be added directly to the RYSE app.

    If you want to use HomeKit and the RYSE App:

    1. Select HomeKit & RYSE app

    2. Check your Network LED.

      If the light is OFF, tap "No" and proceed to the next step.

      If the light is BLINKING SLOWLY, tap "Yes" and skip to step d.

    3. Use a pin to press the reset button on the back of your SmartBridge quickly. This will switch your SmartBridge into WAC (Wireless Accessory Configuration) mode, and you will see the Network LED slowly start blinking. When you see this, tap "Next"

      WARNING: do not press the reset button for more than 3 seconds. This will cause the device to reset to factory settings.

    4. Select "Take Me to HomeKit". This will open the HomeKit App.

    5. Tap the + button in the top right corner, and select "Add Accessory"

    6. Scan the QR code on the bottom of your SmartBridge, and select "Add to Home"

    7. Follow the in-app instructions to add your SmartBridge to a room, and (optionally) give the SmartBridge a name. Your SmartBridge will be added to your Home!

      Now, navigate back to the RYSE app.

    8. Tap "Yes" to confirm that your device has been added to HomeKit.

    9. The app will now scan your network for your SmartBridge. When it is discovered, select your SmartBridge.

    10. Set your time zone, and (optionally) name your SmartBridge. Tap "Save".

    11. Your SmartBridge will now be added to HomeKit, and to the RYSE app!

    If you want to connect to the RYSE App only:

    1. Select RYSE App Only

    2. Check your Network LED.

      If the light is BLINKING SLOWLY, tap "Yes" and proceed to the next step.

      If the light is OFF, tap "No" and skip to step d.

    3. Use a pin to press the reset button on the back of your SmartBridge quickly. This will switch your SmartBridge into WiFi Broadcast Mode, and you will see the Network LED stop blinking. When you see this, tap "Next"

      WARNING: do not press the reset button for more than 3 seconds. This will cause the device to reset to factory settings.

    4. Go to your phone's settings, and connect to the RYSE-SmartBridge Network. Tapping "Next" will automatically open your phone's settings.

    5. Navigate back to the RYSE app, and select your WiFi network from the list.

    6. Enter your WiFi password. Tap "Connect"

    7. Wait for all three (3) lights on your SmartBridge to turn solid blue. This may take a few minutes.

      When all three (3) lights are solid blue, tap "Next"

    8. Select your SmartBridge from the list

    9. Optionally, name your SmartBridge. Then select your time zone. Tap "Save". If you are logged into your RYSE Cloud Account, you will see your SmartBridge register with your account.

    10. Your SmartBridge will now be added to the RYSE app!
